Study of the Relationship between Self-esteem and Academic Self-seeking Behavior among High School Students

Abstract

High school students are in the critical period of the college entrance examination. Not only the academic pressure increases, but also the physical and mental development of students at this stage has entered a rapid period. With the innovation of educational concepts and the change of learning environment, high school students inevitably encounter difficulties in learning. As an important strategy to regulate their learning pace, academic help can help students give.  In this study, using a questionnaire method of 524 students to explore the rela-tionship between self-esteem and academic help-seeking, we concluded that: (1) High school students' self-esteem and academic help are generally at a good level. There was no significant difference in self-esteem in grade and gender, and there was no significant difference in gender, but not in grade and only child. (2) High school students' self-esteem is related to academic help. Self-esteem can positively predict adaptive academic help and negatively predict non-adaptive help.
