Abstract

This study aims to explore the status quo of children's family touch media use in Nanjing area and parents' attitudes towards children's use of media. This study adopts the method of convenience sampling and distributes online questionnaires. A total of 147 families participated in the questionnaire survey. The research results show that: (1) Children aged 3-6 years spend 30 minutes to 2 hours of daily use of catalysts at home; (2) Children use catalysts mainly for learning and entertainment; (3) Parents perceived young children's use of touch media as positive. Parents approve of their own strategies for managing children's media use; (4) Children's use of touch media and dependence on catalysts are significantly related to parents' understanding of touch media; children's use of touch media and dependence on catalysts are significantly related to parental management strategies. The results of this study will help parents increase their understanding of children's catalyst use behavior, relieve anxiety about screen use, and improve family education.
