Abstract

In China, curriculum ideological and political education has become a hot spot for research and teaching practices for decades. Foreign language courses are relatively unique due to the rich intercultural content, which requires more attention to cultivating students’ correct values. However, due to the implicit feature of ideological and political education, how to explicitly assess the learning effects remains a research gap. This study found that to a certain extent, the curriculum ideological and political education is interrelated with moral education. Thus, lessons can be drawn from the existing moral development tests. Through the comparison of three primary moral judgment evaluation methods, Defining Issues Test (DIT) showed a closer connection with the assessment of curriculum ideological and political education for foreign language courses. With the adaptation of the moral dilemmas and question settings, an explicit assessment method can be built for curriculum ideological and political education for foreign language courses.
