Abstract
As parents have been more and more concerned about their children’s education and their expectations of children’s good performance in school, shadow education can be a choice for students of all grades to supplement the shortcomings in each subject. However, with the continuous popularization of shadow education, various problems about the quality of shadow education, equity problems in different countries, regions and families and students’ pressure from shadow education. Shadow education is facing the problem how to clarify the purpose of teaching and establish a quality educational institution. Shadow education may also lead to the problem of social stratum differentiation. In addition, too much extra-curricular tutoring will also lead to students’ increasing learning pressure. The paper will discuss the current situation of shadow education in China. The main purpose of this paper is to discuss and analyze the reasons for the popularity of shadow education, the equity problems brought about by shadow education, parents’ attitudes, and the problems of shadow education.
