A Discussion of the Treatment of Pronouns in English-Chinese Translation

Abstract
It is imperative to note that English and Chinese are two different languages, which have very different linguistic structures and forms of expression. The use of pronouns, which are the most commonly used words in both languages, plays an essential role in the construction of sentences, the connection of paragraphs, and the formation of contexts. English and Chinese pronouns share many similarities. However, the way in which pronouns are used in English and Chinese differs as a result of differences in the way of thinking, language characteristics, and national culture. These differences cause specific difficulties in translation between the two languages. For a better understanding and expression of the source text, as well as for translating into a language more in accordance with the expression habits of the translated language, it is imperative to observe and analyze these differences and explore the handling of pronouns in English-Chinese translation practice.
